Provincial Victoria Entrepreneurship celebrated

The Champions of the Bush annual ‘Spirit of Entrepreneurship’ Award was presented in 2009 at The Sebel ‘Deep Blue Hotel’ Warrnambool, on 26th November. The winner was ‘Enterprise Cruises’ of Paynesville in East Gippsland, and the owner Roelf Aukema and his wife Juliette were present to receive a handsome trophy from the Swinburne University Director of MBA programs Dr. Julian Lippi.

In announcing the winner, Champions Chairman John Moore praised the standard of the final entries and the innovation demonstrated by SME’s in country Victoria. He also presented a Chairman’s Commendation certificate for ‘Social Entrepreneurship’ to the South West Credit ‘Community @ Heart’ program based in Warrnambool.

The Warrnambool City Council was a sponsor of the Award dinner, and the Mayor Cr. Michael Neoh and Chief Executive Bruce Anson were on hand to congratulate the winner, and thank the Champions members and visitors for coming to their city for the event.
Incoming 2010 Chairman Dr. Greg Walsh, a local Economist and Board member of SED Consulting, profiled the commercial and community development achievements of the Dunkeld township, and praised the district as a shining example of the kind of economic development required in regional Victorian small towns.

The highest praise of the evening came from the 70+ attendees, who stayed on and mingled after the dinner, and made many new network connections with like businesses.
The 2009 Award was again supported by Regional Development Victoria ‘The Place To Be’.
